What are my before care instructions?

Do not pick, tweeze, wax, or perform electrolysis one week before the procedure.

Do not tan your face two weeks prior to your appointment.

The procedure cannot be performed on sunburned skin.

Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Do not work out the day of the procedure.

Do not have botox 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

You must not use Retin-A near the brow area 2 weeks before or after the procedure.

Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor pigment deposit:

Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your appointment

Do not consume coffee or any caffeinated beverage before your appointment

Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

What are my after care instruction?

Immediately following your appointment:
Gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 5 minutes until oozing has stopped.  Removing fluid prevents hardening of the lymph. Too much lymph left on the skin will produce heavy scabs.

Days 1-7:

Wash 2x daily to remove bacteria and dead skin.

Gently wash your procedure area each morning and night with water and a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or CeraVe.

Use your fingertips to gently cleanse the tattooed area. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds. Rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away.

Gently pat with a clean tissue.

DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

Apply ointment 1x a day. Nighttime only for 7 days.

Apply a rice grain amount of ointment with a cotton swab, and spread it across the treated area. Using too much ointment will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

Do NOT pick the scabs off of your tattoo.

Important Reminders:

Use a clean pillowcase.

Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring and loss of color.

No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks

Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.

Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

Avoid swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days.

Avoid topical makeup on the tattoo.

Do I need a consultation before my appointment?

I do not offer “in person” consultation appointments. If you have questions or concerns, you are welcome to text me. I am more than happy to look at pictures of your brows and discuss which permanent makeup service is best for you.

If you are in need of correction work, or if you have had your brows tattooed by a different artist, you will need to in text me a picture of your brows before scheduling an appointment.

Are there certain factors that could make my permanent makeup fade faster than usual?

If you have oily skin, it can cause hair the like strokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery. If you smoke, you may notice a faster fade out. If you are anemic or iron deficient, your body will absorb the iron based pigments more quickly. Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading. You will want to use Color Guard sunscreen. Color Guard can be found on Amazon. If you have a fast metabolism, your pigment will fade faster. Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine 24 hours before your procedure.

Is Permanent Makeup painful?

A topical 5% lidocaine is used to make you more comfortable during your appointment, but pain tolerance varies from client to client. Having the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.

How long does the procedure take?

Initial appointments take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. This includes time for paperwork, numbing the area, design/mapping and the procedure. Follow-up sessions take approximately 1 hour.
